okay, im getting a tripod for x-mas so that i can futher explore my enthusiasm for amature/hobby photography. But when i use my camera just for shots of like people, things, other stuff just for memories, and not artistical value, how can i increasee the image quality b/c alot of situations are not needing the flash, and when i dont use the flash, thelittle "camera shake" thing comes on...is ehre anything i can do to maybe deterr that a litte, besides haveing a 'steady hand'?

    thanks alot guy..

Use the flash anyway? What camera do you have?

Pretty sure you can set it to ISO 400. If it has an "S" mode use it to set the shutter speed to something like 1/90 or 1/125 or even faster if you can. Seriously though, why not use the flash anyway unless your subject is standing in front of some kind of reflective surface (like window, tv, mirror....)

you need to keep the shutter speed faster then the focal length at which you are going to be taking the photo when not using a flash

im talking somewhat about indoor pics that are on the boarder of not needing the flash...and if i do use the flash, its way to bright...
