last night I spilt diet coke on my mbp. now 5 of my keys (o,y,h,6, an ?) do not work. took it to the apple store this morning and they saw some liquid underneath my cover so they told me it will cost 1200 + tax to fix an this is a flat fee. there is no way that I will pay 1200 to fix it but I wanted to know what my options are. is there anyway I can fix it cheaper or have it fixed cheaper. is my computer pretty much fucked. any advice. pretty stressed out right now.

Take it apart and wipe clean with some windex on a rag. Learn how to take the keyboard off on www.ifixit.com

thanks. my mom wants me to take it to a computer repair shop tomorrow to get their opinion on how bad the damage is. after that, depending on their estimate, i may try to take it apart and clean it.

if it is pretty much ruined, i guess i will sell it off, if thats even an option, and buy something new. If I go this route i will probably go to a desktop machine since my mbp was pretty much one anyway.

13" mbp starts at $1199...no real reason to repair it IMO.

so i got my mbp back, the shop said only the keyboard was affected but they wanted $407 to fix it, so I paid the $55 fee for having them look over it and took the computer back with me. I bought a wireless keyboard to use for now until I can find the parts to replace the keyboard
