I have a dsl connection (sprint fast connect) and the fastest i can get it to download is 56k/s. Is there something on my comp that can help or is it my isp.

Sounds like you have a crappy DSL. What do sites like dslreports.com and bandwidthplace.com say your speed is. Is your modem connected to your computer via Ethernet or USB?

I went to bandwidthplace and got these results.

Now it looks like i have a fast connection. but storage is only 56k. Does that mean that my comp can only store 56k/s. Is there some way I can change this, its not like i have a crap comp or anything.

www.dslreports.com -- search in the tools, they have a buncha stuff that you can DL to tweak your NIC settings to give you a little more speed.

    here is mine on cox

Your download speed : 1856270 bps, or 1856 kbps.
    A 226.5 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 253453 bps, or 253 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

    get cable

I work as a Road Runner tech and most of my customer get over 2megabits....i've even seen the odd one get 4+

I am not saying TW is a good company, but that's way below what you should be getting

Yeah RR's good. I have Earthink cable over TW's wires (basically the same thing as RR but different news/mail servers) and they just upgraded us to 3Mbit from 2Mbit. And I get it pretty much 24/7. None of the "cable slows down" crap the DSL companies use to scare people away from cable.

I would love to get cable but i live in the woods and this is my only option other than dial up.

Does anyone else have any ideas on how to speed up my storage number?
