    I'm using a Belkin 4-Port Cable/DSL Gateway Router w/built in firewall

So anyway, I've setup the virtual server on the router, feeding all port 21 (FTP) requests to my internal IP

I've tried using my external ip (currently: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)

and I've tried my WAN IP, and my internal IP... obviously I can access my FTP using my internal IP from inside the network, but I want to be able to setup a working FTP.

everytime I try to connect, I get a connection refused error.

I've even tried DMZ, still no go with the computer in the DMZ.

I've disabled my software firewall, the WinXP firewall is never enabled ( I double check to make sure it was disabled) and I've tried disabling the hardware firewall... nothing works.

    wtf do I do?

If you connect your computer directly to the outside world, bypassing the router altogether, and you can't access your ftp site from the internet (lets say you used a dialup connection for testing purposes), then your ISP is blocking that port.

wtf went on in here! :eek3:

anywho... most isp's block the ftp port cuz they don't want you running a public ftp server. Just change the port to something else

EDIT: change the port that your ftp server LISTENS on as well as the port on the router...

one more thing... it's probably not the smartest idea to post your public ip address when you're having router issues ;) I'll edit your post
