im trying to reinstall windows on my gf's laptop. i put the cd in and restarted the comp w/ the CD Rom as the first boot device but its not booting from the cd.

any idea why it would do this? i didnt find an enable/disable CD rom feature in the bios.

    please help!

If it's a laptop it might not have a floppy drive anyway.

Does the CD boot in other machines? Sounds silly, but usually if a CD doesn't boot with the BIOS setup correctly, the CD is the problem. Otherwise, if there's a boot menu (usually you'd get to it by pressing some F key on startup) then try going to it and booting from CD from there.

here is the link for the boot disks, they have come in handy a few times for me. Like a previous poster said this will be useless to you if your CD is no good, make sure it is not scratched or cracked and is running fine by trying it on another machine.
