It's less than the other choices you posted. :hsugh:

Yes, it's a good tv. Go look at it in person.

looks like I got my answer I guess I will be going with the panasonic. I just finished up all of my research and I guess im going with a panasonic lcd flat panel as my hd television. Now heres another question what else do I need?

I am going to end up picking up a PS3 because alot of good games are coming out soon and from what I read its the best blue ray player on the market. So I will be getting that and the HD cables. As far as programing goes right now i have basic cable but I will be upgrading to Directv because I can get it for free from work after my benefits kick in. In the mean time I noticed my moms hd tv she has basic cable and the channels look all pixelated and crappy will this happen to me to when I get dtv or during the 2 - 3 weeks before I get directv?

    Why would you go LCD?

That Panasonic plasma you linked to is a great set. Though I believe it can be had for less through Amazon.

Well it's your money so you do what you want.

But the 50" panasonic will crush that overpriced piece of dogshit.

I look at them all day long so...

But like I said it's your money and I'm just giving my take so the rest is up to you

If you want the best, Pioneer Elite.

If you don't want to spend that much, Pioneer.

If you still want cheaper, Panasonic.

When you were watching them were all the displays fed by the same type of input? I've seen Circuit Shitty, Best Buy, etc feed HDMI to the sets they prefer to sell and then split off a crappy S-Video or composite input to sets they have lower margins on.

Have them hook up a BlueRay player via HDMI to both and then evaluate.

I'm sure none of them were set up properly.

Shitty calibration can make a $5000 tv look like a $500 tv. No amount of calibration can go the other way.

go to a real store and not bestbuy.
Samsung and Sony tvs picture is brighter at default settings.
All you need to do is tweak some settings on a Panasonic plasma and the picture quality will blow the samsung away!

I saw that same movie being displayed on a Samsung 120hz tv via blu-ray player hdmi connection and wasn't impressed with the PQ.
If you really want to test out a tv then watch King Kong HD-DVD (so-so movie but the picture quality is amazing).
