Need help picking out a new laptop......

    Price range is about 2000$
    Processor Class P4 dont care to much about the M processor thats if someone can tell me why i would need that more then a P4....
    Display Size no smaller then a 17" WIDESCREEN TruBrite Screen Technology
    Video Chipset best for the money.....
    Wireless Protocol 802.11g if it has 802.11b and 802.11g thats good to.....
    OS XP Home or XP Professional.....home is fine...
    Memory no less then a GB
    Hard Drive 40 and up......more the better....
    Additional Drives DVD+/-RW

    ok let me know if there is anything i missed that you need to know to help me out.....

    to be used for internet,school work,playing music,some video movies, and maybe some games.......games are not that important thou.....

    That isn't a laptop... that's a desktop that you have to cart around.

    the Pentium M chip saves battery life... that's one of it's main advantages.

    i have never had a laptop before.......only desktops

    im seeing that most laptops are Pentium M

    for what you describe, the Pentium M is *IDEAL*.

    and a 17" widescreen is HUGE. I mean it's GINORMOUS. You will nto want to carry it around. 15" is a good size for a laptop (still big, imo) and I you can get teh 15.4" widescreen, if you desire... But remember that it gets a lot wider, and won't work well in most college desks.

    I'd say asus M3P for basic laptop, or M6N / W1 for widescreen multimedia. The M6N is widescreen, centrino, and has a great video card.
