I know this is beating a dead horse, but I wanna go ahead an place an order for a stripped AR lower this week.

    CMMG, RRA, Stag?

Are all mil-spec lowers created equal?

I'm still seeing a $50-75 difference based on name alone.

I've seen several pictures of lowers next to each other, with people commenting about flash here, and rough spots there... Honestly, at my level, I don't see the differences.

They are all good brands, personally I'd buy the cheapest of the 3.

Like the others said, go with the cheapest lower, it'll do. As for the trigger, I found the WOA tuned 2 stage trigger is nice, I think it's just a RRA one redone by WOA. Also, depending on your app, maybe a light one stage will do as well, just depends what you are looking for.

I'm thinking of going with a Spike's Tactical stripped lower when I eventually get my AR... Quality good on the Spike's lowers too?

I'll probably go with RRA internals and upper.

Spikes is good, expensive but has graphics? I'd go with RRA internals too, I once had a Stag one, didn't fit as well. RRA can be found cheaper too if you look around.

Take your time on the upper, make sure you know what kind of shooting you're looking for. I went through several, wasted money, but eventually found what I liked. Do some research and choose the length of barrel and gas system carefully, handguards and BUIS, all that crap can come later.

Talk to Jimmy Pop Cornholio. I'm sure he can give you a discount on CMMG rifles/parts. :bigthumb:

No clue as to triggers. It's something I'm kinda looking into now since that's the next step.

Honestly they are all the same but stay away from Vulcan. RRA, Stag, CMMG all have great quality lowers and like everyone has said you can go with RRA or CMMG internals, RRA is a little cheaper. For me it is just a personal choice and I like to match up my lower with my upper. If I am using a RRA, CMMG, or Stag upper I will use the same lower.

Do you want a standard trigger? Adjustable trigger? Match trigger? If you just want a standard trigger go with RRA or CMMG internal. You can get a complete lower kit with grip for around $60.

  17. Get the match trigger its awesome.

Yeah i imagine I'll stick with a standard trigger... I mean I can always swap them out later when I'm more familar with the rifle.

    Looking up kit prices now

Again it depends on what you are looking for. For some people spending an extra $200 on a trigger isn't worth it. I have a match trigger and yes it is awesome but I would say not worth it unless it was going on a precision AR.
