I have a suit event to go to next week when I'm in Vegas. I need help finding a matching tie. I wear a tie/suit about once a year and like to buy new ties every time..

Shoes: Black, flat panel front oxford
    Socks: Black
Pants: Black, Perry Ellis w/ pleat (Sorry, don't wear flat front)
    Coat: Black, Claiborne sport coat

The two shirts I am choosing between are from express (1MX shirt). One is navy blue, one is a shade lighter then baby blue. Both shirts are solid. I want a tie for each shirt so I have an option.

I like to look clean, yet powerful and confident. I don't have any hangups on colors. I'd like to look current and fashionable..

Can you guys help? :hs: What colors and/or mixes should I be looking at?

The shirt would not go with that combination... that being said I could not for the life of me match a tie to go with that combination.

    Why don't either color go?

Let's do this then - What colors do you recommend, including shirt.

I leave Thursday, so this must be taken care of tomorrow...

When wearing a black suit or dress pants/sport jacket combination the shirt should either be white (more formal), or white with a pattern (black stripe etc.)

Blue and black do not go together.

BTW - I am not a fashion expert but this is what I would recommend. I wore suits daily for a few years and never would have put a blue shirt with a black outfit.

OK. I think I'm going to go white shirt (pointed)..

Any recommendations on tie color per my original post?

Depends on the look you want. It could be a two-tone black pattern or something very vibrant, bright - red in it etc. The tie is where you add your personality; some of the ones I have people go :eek3::eek3:, but hey that is me :wiggle:
