I got a Nikon D-80 a few months back and I don’t have the best of lenses. I knew I needed a lens with a low aperture that can shoot fast sports in low lights with an ok zoom (wrestling in a high school gym). Problem was I could not afford it when I purchased the camera and hoped for some good Christmas sales but haven’t seen any around. Anyone know of some good deals or suggestions on an auto-focus lenses. I’m really looking for one less than $400-500… obviously not going for the best lenses around, just ones that will take decent pictures.

    Thanks OT

    fast zoom for $400-500? :io:

I would go for a prime IMO not familiar with nikon but something like a 85mm f1.8 or 135mm f2 would probably work well

It is wrestling as long as he can get kind of close then the lens is more than fast enough.

Edit: the 28-75 would likely be the better choice between the two since it does have a little more reach.

i will probably be anywhere from 20-50 feet from the person... and we cant use a flash, thus why i need the low aperture. Will the wrestlers be like ants or will i still be able to get a decent print with the 28-75? thanks

That is 75mm at 20ft. I would think that would be enough reach...:dunno:

At 50ft you might be wanting more though.
