    I know I know - don't change it. O well.

I joined a new gym that will be fine for my workouts except I can't deadlift. :sadwavey:

What should I replace deadlifts with in the Bill Starr madcow routine??

Starting my new log today also :wiggle:

which gym did you end up going?

why can't you deadlift? they say no DL or just no rack? cause if its just no rack, take a BB from anywhere, put in on the floor and GO!

Technically I'm allowed to deadlift it's just that the floor is pretty thin rubber (from what I can tell... it has no give) and I can't smash weight down. if I'm going heavy I get really tired and the weight will hit hard. 300 lbs can't really hit soft :(

I tried looking for all gyms near me - everything is a no go. way too far or too expensive.

I joined a new gym at my local community centre (thornill community centre) called Better Bodies.

Is there a version of Bill Starr that does Cleans instead of deads?

Someone broke one of the 80 lb dumbells so now I've got to make a huge leap from 75-85 on my flat press. :wtc:

I wish I knew who did that. :squint:

I doubt you'll break a plate or anything unless you're being a total tard. Just go for it.

yes.. a copout when I still squat 3x a week. :ugh:

I think I'll try it next time and see what he says :x:

The dumbells only go up to 65 or so and then there's 1 set of 90s so I won't be doing much DB benching when the benchs are busy

Why not just do straight-legged DL's or pin pulls?

If they give you shit, just go out and buy some industrial rubber for pull days.

If there isn't a 'no dl' policy, just pull. You aren't going to break anything. If I can put 600lbs down easy, you can put 300 down easy

As long as you're gaining don't feel the need to switch it up unless you're completely bored with it.

any idea where I could buy that rubber? that would totally work. I just don't wanna get into a confrontation... it's a small gym (in place where a drugmart used to be to give you an idea how small) and it's filled with people who don't workout really... no one deadlifts/squats... so that's why it's a bit awkward :o

Like Maine said, can't you just set it down softly? If it's that big of a deal there, you should be able to work around it. :dunno:

The original version of bill star were cleans instead of deadlifts I think.

Maybe you're thinking of the advanced version? I think i remember reading that you can sub powercleans for rows.

You should be able to gain for a while, years maybe. After the initial... I'd say 2 months of working out your gains slow down a bit (aka you won't be able to go up 5 lbs every workout).

http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=3134393 this is a great thread on gains and understanding when you need to change programs. Props to MP18 for this one.

The original one that I saw was just bench, squat, and power clean 5x5.
