a couple of buddies and me are looking for a good 4 player RPG to play...must have good storyline.
Get 4 copies of Oblivion and then use the intermediate world mod to all join the same game.
Neverwinter Nights, or diablo2
or Ultima Online. You can set up a server on any of the computers easily and all run on the same game. Although the only thing to do together would be go raid all the different dungeons and stuff until you got tired of doing so, you'd never beat the game as there is no end. That said, theres lots of free servers out there and it's simple as hell to connect to them, you could all just connect up to the same server and have a four-person PK (player killer) troop, really fuck some people up. It's not like wow where you have to ask to fight. You just run up to someone and start casting spells while they try to run before you kill them They'll sometimes come after you once you attack them though, if they're not n00bs. Most people on free servers aren't n00bs so it'd be a challenge.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I know you can 4 player it on the consoles, dunno about the pc version. I have it installed but don't know if it has multiplayer.
Final Diablo: Oblivion Warcraft.
I don't think the idea of a 2 or more player rpg ever caught on...
You might be able to play Secret of Mana with 2 other buddies, get zsnes 1.51w set up three controllers on a computer and whamo zippo. you'd play it on the same computer, no lan needed.
definitely diablo 2, titan quest, neverwinter nights.
can do any of the hundreds of MMORPGs.
i came here to say this
never played NWN but I think that's a good try. we'll get on that.
Before you get started on that...have you ever actively played Dungeons and Dragons?
It goes by those kinds of rules...you won't be casting tons of spells, you'll use up what spell ability you have pretty damn quickly and it starts off really fucking slow.
A lot of people really got into NWN and I know its popularity, but being an avid RPG player myself without ever caring about D&D I couldn't get into it at all... every person had a small childrens book worth of dialogue before you got into a conversation with random person #1908352 that also had a whole shit load of stuff to say.
I personally don't have this problem, graphics mean nothing at all to me to whether or not a game is good. That said, NWN's graphics are kind of old school, if that's going to distract you stray away. I don't think it should, but some people are that way.
yes, we do play D&D. we lost our DM so that's why we want to get it from a video game.
I just read about a game that might be right up your alley in an old game informer.
Heroes of Might and Magic 5
apparently has up to 8 player lan support
who knows, maybe newer HoMaM games have it too
hahaha i loved that in UO, i always loved raping people macro'ing mining or some shit
No joke, I used to lan NWN all the time. Didn't get into NWN2, but wish I had.
I always played the rogue and cleaned out all the chests while everyone else was fighting and close it back so when they got to the loot shit was gone
Dungeon seige 1 or 2
okay, we got it all set up but we're having some CD-key issues. any ideas? we have the dedicated server but one of our guys is having issues.
