like i said, HomeSite 5.0. you won't regret it.

ive used it since version 2.5, which was about 5 years ago... tried other editors, always came back to homesite. :big grin:

    www.allaire.com

edit: whoops, allaire used to own it, they sold it to www.macromedia.com

I've always enjoyed UltraEdit (http://www.ultraedit.com). You can use it free for 45 days. But it's well worth $35.

Like, holy shit! Notepad is so fucking free it's amazing! It even ships WITH your copy of Windows!!1

God damn. Learn how to write HTML. That's how I did it, and now people like you (who just want some fucking GUI) ask me questions about how to get their shit to work.

King you beat me to it, although I probably wouldn't have been so rough. :)

Notepad for me as well. I've never used an editor or design program and couldn't even tell you how to use one.. I learned on notepad, and will always design in notepad - Because of it, I know a lot more then my friends who do it be design. :)

don't liseten to the notepad elitists, some people just want to be cool and hardcore. besides, if they were smart they would at least use ultraedit or pfe.

use homesite or that free program i mentioned above. it'll help you write cleaner code and let's you preview it with out having to do a 'save as and refresh'.

Ya. I tried using Macromedia Dreamweaver... It seemed like a good idea, but the code got all messed up and I had to go through and fix evrything by hand.

Not trying to be 'cool' or 'hardcore' or elitist, just telling it like it is.

I was a net admin at a company that only hired people who could code HTML/ASP/PHP etc in notepad (mostly because they wanted clear original code and designs, but also because they were too cheap to buy Macromedia :uh: ). Try explaining to your desired future employer that you can't really write a line of code, but you could click a few buttons and choose a few options on a drop-down menu.

If you look at it that way, you're not a programmer.. you're a designer or as we used to call them, GUI-Specialists.

I'll admit it. I use Front Page at work. :o :o

Learning HTML is all well and good, but holy fuck don't use Notepad, it will make your head explode with it's annoyingness. On Windows I use either WordPad or EditPad (preferably).
