I bought a 750GB Seagate drive with SATA interface.

I need to get an external enclosure for it that has internal SATA; but is USB 2.0 good enough? I'm thinking of hooking up to to my Airport Extreme Base Station to wirelessly share the whole drive and then setting up movies and music to it.

Just concerned that USB isn't good enough. FW800 is obviously the best way to go - but I won't be able to share it wirelessly.

This is one I was looking at..

If speed is your primary concern then you could get an External enclosure with both eSATA and USB2.0 on it. I like the Vantec ones, but mostly just cause they look sexy :o

Then what you do is get a 2 port eSATA expresscard for your MBP. When you hook it up to that, you will get screaming fast speeds (probably faster than your internal drive) and, if you want to share it over wireless, hook it to the airport with USB 2.0. Best of both worlds :)

Oh, just realized you didn't post if you had a MBP or not. If you don't then you might wanna see what cards would work with your computer. An Expresscard like teh one made by bytecc will work with the MBP though

how is it? is it loud and does it have lights on it? I leave my macbook on at night with my external connected and I took the LED's out of my vantec so it doesn't light my whole room up.
