I have an HP and have been pretty happy with it. We bought a Lexmark originally, but it wouldn't work with my parents' Macs, so we took it back and got the HP.

I'm using the dell 1600n which is really nice. It does everything you need, plus it can be plugged in on your network which is a really nice bonus.

    Built-in? That's cool.

I run my OfficeJet 6110 through a JetDirect, with the JetDirect plugged into my wireless router.

You mean wired or wireless? That shouldn't really be a problem if your network setup is half-decent :dunno:

Do not buy an Epson CX5300.

Biggest piece of shit I've ever owned in my entire life.

i am floored that anyone would even remotely use an all-in-one. we have some hp's and they SUCK ASS. if i have any say, the user is not allowed to get one - not worth it when it comes to repair and ink cartridge costs. my opinion: use a fax machine to fax, a copier to copy and a printer to print.

Having three separate machines works great in a normal office, but in a home office or a small office it's not feasible. An all-in-one isn't the solution if you do a large volume of faxing, printing and copying, but if you do a bit of each or lots of one and a bit of the others, then it's a great solution.

If Kentucky is anything like California (and I hope its not), I can't imagine a realtor using an inkjet printer. "Opps, I misstyped something on the 20 page form, I'll have to reprint that." You really need a laser for that kind of stuff. Preferably a small workgroup sized machine. Even better would be a nice color laser. My dad added a color laser to print small batches of fliers quickly without having to pay up the ass for color copying at Staples or Kinkos.

You can get laser all-in-ones now. We have an HP one at work (it's pretty much just used for faxing, but it gets used for copying now and then as well).

Color laser printers are great, and they've come down in price a lot lately. We bought two nice ones (Oki 3000C's IIRC) at work recently, and they were only about $600 Canadian each.
