Never polished are car in the 10+ years I been doing this that had CC failing. I could removed some of it with my finger nail when I rubbed it across it. The guy is debating on getting it polished to sell and will let me know tomorrow but how the hell do you polish something like this and not take off all the clear? I think I would have to stick to the UDM for this one and not break out the big dog.

Personally? I wouldn't take the job. Polishing over the spots where the clear is failing WILL make the problem worse, not better.

If you do polish it out, definitely keep the buffer away from any areas where the clear is failing. I would even go so far as to make the guy sign a waiver releasing you from liability if more damage is caused by polishing.

My approach would be telling the guy to go get Maaco -- a cheap-ass paint job will still look better than CC failure and might get the car to sell faster.

You can't polish the CC failure areas without making it worse.

Well I took the job and used a orange LC CCS pad with my own polish mix of 3 ozs of Megs 105 and 1 oz of Megs #80.

It made the spots stand out more but the parts that didnt have CC fail it worked amazing.

Only made $160 but with buying a new house needed the cash badly so whatever. The guys Visa expires May 1st and he is selling the car shortly and going back to India.

As long as the owner is happy and you got $160, that's what counts, amirite?

Hell yeah it counts. My paint sucks and under the wing of my GTP I see that the paint has chipped off. Need to pull the wing off and fix that. I'd pay someone to fix up my paint even with the problems. Could probably make it look amazing.
