So I'm about a year from opening my business. I'm looking for someone to design my logo when I give them my input. (I'm not necessarily looking to OT for this but:)

What I am wondering is how do graphics design artists usually do business for logos? I'm looking for the final vector art of the logo.

Do they work in a manner of, they draw up a logo and then if I like it I pay for the vector art? Or do they charge per hour even if what they come up with is shit?

    Thanks ot :big grin:

Usually, you'd give them a budget to play with and they usually stay within that budget. Most places will create a variety of logos and have you choose from one of them. Then proceed on with changes and improvements.

So as far as a budget for a logo what should I expect to spend for one?

lol that's a cop out answer. I mean realistically for a modern logo. Not some shitty logo made in paint with times new roman font lol.

I see sites for $249 with 4 concepts and unlimited revisions.

That sounds tempting but when it shows work they've done its not very impressive.

Cop out answer? Do some fucking research.

Some people will charge you $100 for a logo. Some companies will charge you $10 grand for a logo. If you see sites that will do your logo for $300, then go with them.

I'm just saying I could have guessed a range from $100 to $10,000. Thanks for your help.

    Anyone else with input? :)

Actually they are right. My company does them for clients and you get what you are willing to pay for. $150 and you get what we throw together based on your initial input. We have also done major company logo's and they range upwards of $10k.

~$250 for a decent logo is around the average cost. some vendors want changes upon changes upon changes to a logo before its finalized, others are happy with one of the first few you give them. just need to talk with a few people and see their rates. like if they charge hourly, or if its a flat fee for so many drafts/revisions.

I'm more of a website designer myself, but if you are looking to spend a few hundred, I can recommend some extremely talented designers who would be more than willing to get you a perfect logo. Send a PM.
