Why used? You can get some awesome subs online for cheap. How much are you looking to spend on a sub and amp combo?

200 bucks or under for both the sub and amp?

You can go with one of Pioneers IMPP subs...here is a 12" for around $60, and they sound surprisingly good for what you're paying for them. Good SQ, and get decently loud if your looking for that.

Then you can pick up a U.S. Aucostic amp from thezeb.com...I think the USX600D goes for close to $170.

It would be a pretty nice set up but you might wind up spending a tiny bit more than $200 (closer to $230).

Ugh....I've heard numerous installs of that around here, and although it got fairly loud, the SQ absolutely sucked!

As far as a box, just build one yourself, it will sound 10x better than a prefab. Might run you about $30 more.

It may sound good, but I don't know how I would live with myself knowing I had fast and the furious gear in my car!!! :o :o :o

I recently installed a budget system in my shop chiefs car consisting of a U.S. Acoustics amp for $70, a Pioneer 12" subwoofer for $40 and a R/T box for $40 and I think the wiring was like $12, all from SoundDomain (sorry I can't give you any links, I'm at work and SD is blocked). I was very impressed with the sound for the price.

I bought one and returned it 20 mins after installing it. I heard great things about it; how it evens out the sound in the car and what not. Unless your factory speakers have ABSOLUTELY no bass, then don't bother. I would estimate the bass output to be about equal with a pari of 6x9's. Don't waste your money.
