    Can anyone let me know,
    1) the order in which the cylinders are numberedand

    2) the diagram for where the spark plug wires go, i.e. from what position on the distributor to which #cylinder.
    and lastly,
    3) Are the wires the same for a 1996 as a 1997? The guy who sold me the wires swore to me that the '96 are the same as the '97.

I would have replied to this sooner but I've been gone all week for a funeral.

To answer your question whoever is trying to sell you these wires is an idiot. 1997 was the first model year of the last F150 design, I say last because the 2004's are out and they are the new design.

In 1996 as I recall you had the engine choice of the inline 6, 302 V8 and 351 V8. In 1997 to present you have the choice of the 4.2 V6, 4.6 V8 and 5.4 V8.

If you have the 5.4 you don't need spark plug wires since they have the coil packs. If its the 4.2 this is the order when standing in front facing the truck.

    3 6
    2 5
    1 4

    The coil order is:
    3 4
    2 6
    1 5

For the 4.6 this is the plug order, I have this engine:

    4 8
    3 7
    2 6
    1 5

There are 2 plug coils on the front of the engine:

    The left:
    6 3
    1 5

    The right:
    7 2
    4 8

Hopefully I'm not too late with this info. If you have any more questions I'll be glad to help you with what I know.

I'm sorry to hear that, thanks for the response.
I just found out that the wires were for a 96 mustang. THis ass-clown doesn't want to give me my money back, meanwhile i have no money to get the correct wires and get my truck running.

Correct, the 5.4 has coil over packs so there are no wires.
