i've been using my crappy onboard realtek hd for long enough.

it's for a htpc, optical audio/toslink/spdif would be nice, minimum 5.1.

    pci of course.

i'm thinking mebbe this turtle beach one from amazon, sold out at newegg.

    got a recommendation?

are you talking about this thing for $350 at newegg :eek5:

i'm looking at $60 home theater solutions and you give me a $350 "mobile recording interface" option

it's nice :hs: but not for me, thanks anyway :wavey:

unless you're talking about the $180 fatal1ty edition with the front panel i don't see one with a spdif optical audio out, and even that one only has it on the front panel :nono:

any other recommendations, or am i missing something :dunno:

*edit* well there is also this $50 xfi pcie card but i'm not sure i want to use pci-e since i like my htpc quiet and putting that in may cause my gpu (7900gtx) temp to rise, which may cause the case fans to kick up a notch :hs: */edit*

sound blaster fucking SUCK!!!! don't get one.

However, Guitar Center may still have something to fit the bill, even if the FW410 is too much for ya. This caught my eye after a quick check.

i've had decent sound blaster cards in the past, but used the ac97 analog onboard sound (through my receiver) for my last build and haven't used a sb since the ol 5.1 card :)

i would not have looked at guitar center, thanks for the idea! the 1st card isn't quite what i am looking for, but the 2nd one may very well fit the bill :bigthumb:
