I'm working on ways to test my web site internally, and alert if something has gone wrong (query results in page not loading or bad results) but if my server is actually DOWN (power's out, ISP failure, etc.) I don't have any external way to test, until someone calls and says "hey, I can't access the website". What services are out there that will regularly ping your webserver and report via phone (SMS preferrred, but voice message acceptable)? Anyone using anything like this for their own web server?

Internally, we're covered pretty good, but if there's a power outage, and the web server is physically DOWN, I don't have a way to know that immediately, 24/7

    Thanks.

Well this is one way to check if your Website is up or not:
Search Google for these exact words: Down for everyone or just me?
I use it all the time when a page doesn't load and I wonder if its me or not.

But I understand that you want some HTML code (or something) to tell you if the page goes down right at that point (like an email or something)
So I've attached myself to this thread because I can't think of anything like this.

Post the domain name on 4chan and ask them to keep an eye on it for you. :mamoru:

    Thanks all.

Ended up going with a service called ServiceUptime.com to ping my webserver. You can set up how often to hit, and even schedule downtime (for update/reboots, etc). I wrote a script internally that will also attempt to hit a specific page on the site, so if the server is up but the page doesn't work, I'll know that, too.
