I have a M-Audio FW-410 runing two Yamaha HS50M studio monitors and a KRK Rokit RP10S subwoofer. Sounds great, and I'm very happy I bought them.

Including swapping speaker from one side to the other to eliminate a failed speaker from the problem?

Swapping speakers from side to side is not a setting.

But if you're sure you've done everything then just make a choice between a sound card you are going to keep for a while, or an el cheapo for now.

If it was me, I would go with an el cheapo one for now.

That way if for some odd reason it winds up not being the soundcard, you would only be in it for a small amount of money.
Plus at a later date when you do get a decent one, prices will have come down some.
