so our RoadRunner connection has been acting up lately. We've got the connection, then we've got a router so we have a total of 3 pc's on this connection. Now, sometiems the net hangs, and we lag out of games, pages won't load, etc etc. A RR tech came by and said the problem is not on their end and there's not much more he can do since the router, and cables are not his hardware.

Now, my question is this. The cabels we have been using were used in a similar setup, with no problems. We have a Linksys router right now, is it possible that this is the problem? Will getting a new router change anything? There's advertised "gaming" routers with better speeds and whatnot, is there truth to this? Any idea what some good FAST, reliable routers are?

AND finally, is wireless any faster/

exactly what router do you have now? buy the exact same router from best buy and plug it in for a few days. if it works, put the old one back in the box and return it.

    "gaming" routers are a gimmick

wireless is not faster but probably won't be slower, either.

MAC Address won't match. In Oregon, this is a Class C Felony.

Linksys has a problem with over 200 global connections. If you use bit torrent, you have to limit the global connections or you will need to reboot that bitch all the time. Here is a list of routers that are known to have issues...

I am just assuming this is your issue, as it sounds exactly what I have seen on both my linksys routers.
