I am looking for someone to make a logo for "Cork N Bottle Liquors". I need to give this design to my neon sign guy so he can make a sign on our building. The building is a dark purple color.

I can pay up to $15 for the logo I pick, or send a nice bottle of liquor your way :naughty::naughty:

We were thinking of incorporating a bottle or a cork in the logo.

    That is so true.

For fifteen dollars, I would spend less then 20 minutes on your logo...that is it. Digital Point is full of people usually with little to no industry experience. They will give you a logo, however there will be nothing professional about it. No understanding of your business, your businesses vertical, or proper industry standards. I wish you luck.

Usually a professional would charge about 35 up to 75 dollars an hour for logo design. Giving you a wide number of sketches and pick a handful to further develop. From there importing them into Illustrator and refining the logos until satisfied. Then exporting them in multiple formats for web, print, etc.

I was talking to a friend of mine who works at an ad firm once about logo designs, and he said the usual fee was at least 1500 for a professional logo design

Exactly, we have charged as little as 600 and as much as 2,000 for a logo. It depends entirely on what the client is looking for, how many versions, sketches, format, etc. We have created both a 2D format in illustrator as well as a 3D version in Maya. It all depends on the clients wants and needs. However, I will not work for less then a Wal-mart greeter to create an actual companies image. I did not go to college as well as venture into this industry for such pay. Designs and Developers should know better and they should know they are helping build a companies image, generate leads, as well creating a doorway for interaction. This is not a simple best buy sales rep up selling you to a logitech G7 mouse, therefore we should be payed accordingly.

Lastly, I understand that we all have to start out somewhere. Many of my friends who are 3D animators worked as interns while going to school for 10-12 dollars an hour or where on limited constracts after leaving college. However, that is what their boss (company) pays them. In truth the company they work for is making quite a bit more then 10-12 dollars an hour and as a freelancer or a small company you are damn sure that you are going to charge your dues, just like any reputable company would.

and FYI, I paid about $700 to get my logo created by a company here in town. I could have had OT do it, but this was my corporate image. This was the thing I was going to build my vision and mission statement around and the branding I was going to burn into customer's mind.

In the end, I'm very satisfied with the way it turned out, it was a bit steep but definitely worth it.
