in three full months, i need to be in shape for some tests. i have to be able to run a mile in under 10, and by september, a mile and a half by 12mins or less. current stats are 5'10" 191 lbs. i will also be hitting the weights, but want to find a proper balance in cardio and the weightroom. im hioping for 3-5 days a week in the gym at least. working on getting pics, any suggestions out there?

besides the mile & 1.5mile what else does the test include?

physical: 40 pushups in under a min and 30 crunches in under a minute
basically im looking at getting back in shape for it, and continuing my progress

also your planning on eating healthy, on somewhat of a diet. you last ate at 5pm. you plan on going to sleep around 4ish, and are hungry at 11-12. if you do eat, what kind of meal should you eat? obviously not one loaded with carbs, what kind of meal can you eat?

I have a good cardio program christophers posted for me a long time ago, let me dig that up. A 10 minute mile is attainable in a couple of weeks, easy. Even starting from scratch.

As you said, stay away from carbs. If you're just hungry for a snack, eat some cottage cheese or something.

    practice the test itself :dunno:

    for the pushups, try...
    -regualr pushups
    -decline pushups
    -bench press

and for the 2nd part of your question...

angela arrives at the train station first because her train was going 10mph faster. angela & jack are now 68miles apart.

And honestly, this sounds like such a simple test I wouldn't worry about it too much.... But it sounds like you're more interested in getting in shape just for your own good... Here's the running routine. I just bought a subscription so I could search again. :o

If you follow that routine to the "T" you'll be running 7-8 minute miles in time for your test.
