(AP) - A Nebraska state trooper is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the knee with his rifle. Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins on Sunday said the incident occurred early Saturday as the trooper was assisting the Hall County Sheriff's Office on a domestic dispute call in Wood River. She says the trooper was carrying a rifle on a strap and was returning it to its resting position over his shoulder when it fired. The bullet struck him just below his left knee. The trooper was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, where she says he remained on Sunday. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. Collins declined to name the trooper, give his age or say how long he's been with the patrol.
