Anyone in wmd from nc?
me, but I just moved from GA so I'm not too familiar with the laws as of yet.
I have been looking into the CC permit up here though and it sucks. It costs $90 and you have to take a class which is $120! I'm all about education but the price is a bit painful.... esp considering my GA permit cost me all of $52.
sorry to rant.... back on topic, +1 for info on laws.
what if you have a permit from another state? can you trasnfer? Also is here any hicap mag laws?
I haven't looked into the transfer, I really should though. My drivers lic required me to take the written over again so I'm guessing that's a sign of how they do things...
I'm pretty sure my GA permit was valid right up until I changed my DL over but I still have it just in case, even though I don't plan on it holding any weight.
I'm pretty sure there are no mag laws (I haven't heard of these ever since the AWB, is this a northern thing or am I just ignorant?)
GFL is only good for GA residents.
you need to live in your county for 30 days before you can apply for your permit
That's kinda what I was getting at....
Very good to know, although I think I just passed that.
i live in NC. no mag laws or weapon bans.
I live in NC, took me right at 90 days to get my permit
what part of nc do you live in?
I might be moving so I'm asking.
daviid where do you shoot at?
can I use my pa ccw until the wait period is up?
also where is the range yu went to go shoot at and how much does it cost a year?
I live in Huntersville, northside of Charlotte. I know of a range on the southside of Charlotte (in SC but barely) and I hear there are a few up here but I haven't been to any yet. There are some outdoor ranges near Mooresville I hear.
And I think your permit is valid as long as you still have your old state drivers license to go with it. Granted not technically a resident once you move but would get you through any cursory inspection and should hold water as long as you are making the right efforts to get the NC one.
Cost me $100 for the class and $100 for the permit. Get over it.
Its even more expensive in some other states.
Here it's 85 for the class and 115 for the permit, so an even 200 once said and done. Obviously not including the handgun/ammo you use for the course or the holsters you carry with.
This shit gets expensive, but if your life is worth it you will pony up.
it's like 165 a year. where are you thinking about moving in NC?
hmm, i don't know too much about charlotte but it isn't known as a particularly gun friendly area. As for ranges, i don't think there is anything in town, maybe an indoor range here and there. The best place though is probably Uwharrie National Forest. I used to go there a lot when I lived in Greensboro. It's probably like an hour from Charlotte but it's a nice range and it's public and free. plus the guys from AR15 hold shoots and cookouts there quite frequently.
I live in south charlotte let me know if you need to know anything
ive only gone shooting once since i moved back to NC. and that was back home in CT
