    I have a possible job lined up in the Charlette area, how is that area reguarding firearms laws? packing.org is down so i couldnt look much up, mainly interested in CCW, and if CLEO's sign forms easily down there. Also what are some decent surrounding areas of charlette? I wanna check out home prices and stuff that would be in commuting distance, I'm sick of living in urban and suburban areas.

    Forget the CLEO signature Wake and Mecklenburg counties are no go's.

    CCW is restrictive at best, no laws regarding signage, so all signs have the weight of law.

    No carrying in:

    * Schools, public or private,
    all levels including universities. §14-269.2

    * Assemblies and establishments where
    admission was charged. §14-269.3

    * Assemblies and establishments where
    alcohol is both sold and consumed. §14-269.3

    * State Buildings: State
    Capitol Building, the Executive Mansion, the Western
    Residence of the Governor, or on the grounds of any of
    these buildings, and any building housing any court of the
    General Court of Justice. §14-269.4

    * State office buildings or any portion of a
    building in which there are State offices. §14-415.11(c)

    * Law Enforcement or Correctional Facilities.
    §14-415.11(c)

    * Financial Institutions.
    §14-415.11(c)

    * Events Occurring in Public:
    It shall be unlawful for any person participating in,
    affiliated with, or present as a spectator at any
    parade, funeral procession, picket line, or
    demonstration upon any private health care
    facility or upon any public place owned or under the control
    of the State or any of its political subdivisions to
    willfully or intentionally possess or have immediate access
    to any dangerous weapon. §14-277.2

    * Areas of emergencies or
    riots. §14-288.7

    * Where notice of carrying a
    concealed handgun is prohibited by the
    posting of a conspicuous notice or statement.
    §14-415.11(c)

    Basically, anywhere you might need the motherfucker. On the other hand, revocations for CCWs are almost nonexistent, and generally involve alcohol related offenses... and reciprocity is better than most other permits.

    I think you mean Charlotte, and it's not that bad of a city, but it's getting worse, especially the East and West side, and the North side is getting worse and worse... I live on the North side near UNCC. The gun laws are pretty good here, and reciprocity is great. There are a few indoor ranges nearby, and not too many close places to shoot outdoors, but all in all it's a pretty good place to live, even though the taxes suck.... you would be better off living right outside the city if things permit... Concord and Harrisburg are good choices if you are on this side of town.

    Just look outside of Meck county, or look for stuff in Johnston county if you can find something in Raleigh.

    I just moved to Huntersville, started work in Mooresville this past monday.

    What will you be doing for a living here if you don't mind me asking?

    We might have to hookup and do some shooting! I am looking at buying some land north of Charlotte in the next few months so....

    Nice, sounds promising. Hope at least one of them works out for you.

    I love it so far, although I haven't had the chance to really experience it more than I did when I didn't live here. Either way, it's a nice area and you'll prolly like it. My GA permit is valid here but the NC one is $90 (yikes!) and you have to take a class (which doesn't bother me except that it costs more money). Good news is that when I get an NC one I can carry in SC too, which my GA permit does not let me do.

    Anyway, on topic, good luck. And if you need any help on finding a place to live, like what areas are good/bad, let me know.

    Sweet.

    NC also ties with MI for the most reciprocal agreements, I think, at 31 states for forward reciprocity.. but not quite as good on the reverse reciprocity. :hs:

    Don't know about property taxes, I rent out a room from a friend, but I would look outside of Meck. Co. if you are gonna move here.

    That's reverse reciprocity, ie, your state honors all permits, regardless of state requirements. Your state's permits, however, are honored in fewer states (forward).

    I think NC is one of the more stringent permit requirement states, IIRC, hence the reciprocity with more states with less restrictions on permits.

    In order of forward reciprocity, MI/NC #1, FL #2.

    http://www.ccrkba.org/reciprocity.html

    Kind of nice, considering the fucking draconian restrictions on carry in NC.

    What's off limits in MI?

    Schools
    Sporting Arenas
    Entertainment Venues in which the capacity exceeds 2000
    Bars (but you can carry in restraunts that serve, but food sales must exceed alcohol)
    churches
    hospital
    casino
    day care

    I think I got it all. Also it has been cleared that the parking lot of these establishments is allowed. And we can carry in a State Parks (eat shit DNR)

    Thanks for that bit about the parks. I had just assumed it was off limits, but apparently not...

    The DNR doesn't want it, but the legislators pwned them.
