Which would you choose and why ? I've been in San Diego since 10NOV05 my first duty station. I plan on getting out but I want to end my tour on a high note :coolugh:. I have about 18 months left .

    My top 5 choices:

    Sicily, Sigonella
    Guam, Agana
    HI, Kaneohe
    Honshu, Japan
    Sasebo, Japan

    what rating are you?

    I personally loved Hawaii

then again if you've never been overseas it might be an opportunity you don't want to pass up. Especially Japan:o.

Technically so--i did a 6 mos deployment there Oct 06 to Apr 07 (Seabees) and there were ALOT of strip clubs and FAT chamorran chicks. There are NO hot locals and the best thing i can say for orders is look for the money//location--easy to say but yes i understand--hard to do. Japan always has AIP and there OHA is awesome so look more into that and right around the corner is tokyo and shit and lol you could take a trip to guam for a week and TRUST me that's all you'll wanna be there for--just be sure to hit up Mac and Marty's--a sick ass cigar bar.

I'll be an AD soon. I've been leaning toward Hawaii & Sicily.

What the fuck is OHA ?.

And I heard Japan's liberty policies for Sailors suck in Japan is this true ?. I've been on a SouthPac and I'm getting surged in May for a 3 monther SouthPac :(. After that I'm outro.

OHA is overseas housing allowance. Same thing as BAH except you only get what you spend on rent, unlike BAH where you get the full check and you can do whatever with it. I don't know why people like OHA, it has a higher $$ cap than BAH afaik, but you don't get to keep any of it.

Japan liberty does suck in comparison to other places. Yokosuka is actually the only really bad spot, as all of the trouble stems from there. Sasebo is more relaxed, but still has to follow 7th fleet liberty restrictions (which include like no drinking after 0200).

Where in Honshu? Yokosuka? Atsugi? Yokota? there's quite a few bases, though all of them have thier positives and negatives. Yes the liberty restrictions pretty much suck unless you're E5 or above. But it's a great time. I would still be in Japan if it wasn't for that shitty COT policy.

I think when I was in Hawaii in mid 90s I was getting VHA/BAQ

Hawai'i is cool because for certain things it's still considered Overseas duty, but for others you're still in the US...and you are in the US. Just don't really say "I can't wait to get back to the States" to the locals:o..they really don't like that, they ARE part of the States, Mainland is what you mean to say;).

oh and Mahalo doesn't mean trash:o:rofl:

Japan liberty polices are being reworked right now I think. Its not going to get better either. The last week we were in port before we got underway ALL e3 and below were locked down on base. People keep messing up so it keeps getting worse. Sasebo btw.

Dam I thought I replied to this already :uh:. I was told since I've been in the fleet if I were to get attached to a Squadron even as an AN I would get BAH.
With a request chit that is.

For Japan they have Honshu Atsugi and Kyushu Sasebo. Lucky I still have some time to make finial decisions.

if it were MY choice, since i did 3 years in HI and i know i just wanted to leave after 1 (along with alot of other people) i would have chosen honshu IF it has AIP and i knew id be getting housing...but since youve never been to either and you only have 18 months, unless theres a ton of AIP to honshu then HI is probly your best bet
