Who here will not be sad to see the utilities go away?

2 hours worth of ironing for one set of clothes is fucking ridiculous for a working uniform.

fuck yes, what a shitty ass uniform
especially when you are on sea duty and have to wear them while in port all the time...ive fucked up so many pairs just by getting grease stains and rips in them...im glad i am transferring to a place where i can wear cammies just a little bit earlier even

    more details please:o

when I was in it was Dungarees, "working" whites/blacks, and the dress uniforms. The "working" whites most people just bought CNT's from the uniform shop:o.

I was recently near a base and saw people off base in dungarees and had to do a :wtf:. I knew they changed the pants, but I didn't know they changed regs and started letting people wear them off base:ugh:.

here are a couple links for the new uniform:

As for wearing the Utilities (Dungarees) off base, they are only allowed to be worn too and from work. They are not authorized for being worn into civilian stores.

It's not a bad move because:

1.) The sheer amount of uniforms we have to maintain in a seabag=shit.
2.) More comfortable and easier to maintain.
    and
3.) Anyone above e-4 knows that a full set of Utilities costs ~$65 with sewing for a uniform that lasts ~4months is just too fucking much.

they fucked dungarees all up, they didnt just change the pants, they changed the material the shirts are made out of and made all patches sewn on, so effectivly its a shitty looking dressy uniform that is still considered a working uniform, so you spend alot of money for a uniform that is hard to maintain and gets fucked up easily, on top of being uncomfortable to work in...BDU's will be much better for working in

I'm going to like them just for the upkeep side of it. On a ship it is almost impossible to keep a good pair of utilities at all times (no where to hang a set up really), so they have to be ironed before every wear, after a few months of every day use they start to look like shit. Coveralls are alright as long as your chain of command isnt gay and requires them to look inspection ready, they're a working uniform god damnit. Coveralls last about 2 weeks looking nice & crisp. Gets expensive.. $25 for the coveralls... crows, esws, name, us navy tag. adds up pretty quick.

All my utilities have got even more fucked up on deployment. Plus we look like clowns overseas when every other military force is wearing cammies.

    .

i have 3 pairs of coveralls i am using right now on deployment, started with five, all but my inspection pair have a small repaired (shittily sewn up heh) hole or small (no bigger than the palm of my hand) paint stains...my other 2 i never got around to getting esws sewn onto them and the BM's sewing machine broke...so i dont use them heh...they last longer than a pair of utilities in the aspect that you can wear the paintstained/small holed pairs all the time, a small hole or paint stain on a pair of utilities and they are fucked...not to mention we look like prisoners in them more than military heh

    .

i have 1 good pair left here and they have iron burns on them already...i agree we look like clowns in them especially around other branches, but we could pull off just a newer uniform without going blue/grey camo, i dont think they are bad though so...but then again ill be in green/desert starting in one month :wiggle:
