    yeah, you think that's bad? Take a look at MM's. Even before the rate combine with the TM's it was horrible. Mostly because all MM's conventional or NUke took the same test and were lumped together. Add in the TM's and it was even worse.

    This is pretty funny talking about ranks. What we all know is that it really doesnt matter if you are a blue shirt e-1 or an e-6, until you make Chief, the navy sucks. Unless of course you are an officer then all bets are off, but then again they are not taking exams to advance.

    Words of wisdom, dont ever let an E-6 tell you "shipmate im a first class petty officer" You must emphasize the "petty" part. Besides I was once an E-5, and sooner or later everone makes e-6 and if they dont, then they are just too stupid.

    When I was stationed on the CG cutter Hamilton (378') in San Diego, we were undergoing some training for a FAS and one of the instructors was a Navy BM2, who was preparing to retire in just a few months. :mamoru:

    yeah, i don't agree with the whole too stupid thing. granted, a lot of bosun mates are dumb as shit, but it's hard to make bm1. that shit's locked up. a lot of rates are.

    edit: and any real bosun mate has been to mast at least 3 times. that'll put a dent in your advancement opportunities.

    My dad made it to BMCS in just 12 years. He retired at 25 years.

    I have been in 5 months and am waiting on E2 still. LMAO.

    Yeah even advancement up to E-6 can be locked up at times, but I mean 20 years and stuck at E-5....wow. This guy did look and sound like a big goof too. Oh well, everyone lives out their career the way they want to I guess.

    E4 to E5 is often the more difficult advancements.

    E3 to E4 is usually a 100%, after that it drops off dramatically.

    I was a Nuke MM and making E5 was not that easy, a large majority of E5's I knew got E5 off of Star Re-enlistments.

    Quoted for words of stupidity

    It's not just the test,or evals, or awards. It's called quota's.

    Navy E-5 to E-6 advancement
    HM = Hospital Corpsman-50 Navy wide
    MA = Master-at-Arms-26 Navy wide

    2.00% quota's for both

    below are two of the top 5 for advancement with the following note included:

    Note: Top 5 excludes communities receiving 100% advancement opportunity due to advancing 100% of test passers

    CTI = Cryptologic Technician-Interpretive
    69
    94.52%
    ETN = Electronics Technician Nuclear
    153
    61.94%

    repeat for importance
    It's not just the test,or evals, or awards. It's called quota's.
    I know and have known people that have scored a 72 or higher out of the 80 possible test points and havn't made it.
