I am considering getting a Nape piercing, but I was confused about it. How deep does one go and how do you get the ring in and out? I know it is a deep piercing, so thats why I am confused.

Anyone reccomend getting one, or are they not worth the trouble?

you can also use bioplast, a maluable sergical grade plastic.

if you want a nape(or any other surface piercing for that matter) to heal and stay in for an extended period of time, surface bars are the way to go. find a piercer who is experienced with using them.

as i've told you before, it has to be changed out at tri-monthly periods. stainless/titanium can be kept in at all times

ok, what does steel being hard have to do with this? like i said in previous posts, if a nape is done with a PROPER SURFACE BAR it will have a good chance of healing. tygon/ptfe/bioplast are all straight/slightly curved pieces of jewelry, they cause pressure on the entry holes of the piercing. a surface piercing should be done with the rises at 90degree angles to the skin so there is no pressure. there is a much better success rate with them done this way.

all i gotta say is 'wow'. we could argue this for the next 6months, but it wont make a difference. go read up on some surface bars and learn about them. then we'll argue it some more.

The place I normally get piercings wont do it. I am going to have to find somewhere else to get it done. The guy said he just doesn't know how and wont risk hurting me.

you show me the documentation proving that and maybe then i'll start believing some of the bullshit you've been spewing. i've been piercing for 5years, been friends with many many pioneers in this industry for 10yrs+ and i've never heard that one yet.

well i never knew any of that about ron. i check his page once in awhile, but not lately. i've researched many different ways of doing surface piercings and found that surface bars work best.

Since no one said anything, let me just comment that him saying that is a sign of a good piercer that cares about the customer. I'd keep that guy in mind for future stuff... Props to him! :bigthumb:

First of all, this is Josh Neff on IAM...

secondly, most surface bars now days ARE 90 degrees.

and third, tygon is not illegal. That's completely absurd and you have no idea what you're talking about. Tygon is the brand name for a medical tubing... for wound drainage. It has roughly 30 day life before it starts to discolor/harden in a fresh piercing, with a length that can extend when the body doesnt want to break it down.

and there is no legislation on body jewelry, you're clueless. You could legally pierce with a nail and follow it with a bent up keychain... tygon illegal my ass... only way it would be illegal is if someone REALLY wanted to get into it, they could try and charge with practicing medicine without a license if it was bought as wound drainage tubing.

    Ugh. Hey, you know what?

It's totally illegal to breath too. You suck up all the air and it kills monkeys at the zoo, they cant breath if us humans are taking it up.

i've argued with Thatguy/LebaronLX about both of these points, but he seems to think that his piercer is the end all know all of the body mod industry
