Went to take movies back today and decided to stroll into the sporting goods store next door. Sitting in the back of the racks I spotted an M44 Nagant. I asked to see it and turned out to be a Russian carbine. After acting like I wasn't all that interested I told him I would give him 50 bucks instead of the labeled 120.00 to take it off his hands and he went for it. :)

yep, I was trying not to laugh. It came with cleaning kit, pouches, sling and softcase.
Now all I have to decide is whether or not to swap stocks and put on a scope.

They do have a healthy kick, but they are a great truck gun. I put a five round cartridge carrier on the stock.

I am going to swap out the stock for an ATI Monte Carlo. Not sure though if I want to go with a scout scope setup or with a standard scope mount.

Already found and ordered a bent sniper bolt for 20 bucks at Nubrich's site.
As for the bayonet, probably the same thing I did with my SKS and it's dragunov stock, dremel out the groove for the bayonet to fit if I want to have it on :)

the bayo should be a folder that should already be attached to the gun

I have that setup on my 91/30. It works really nice and the cheap scopes that they sell on that sight seem to take the abuse pretty well. I've never used an EER scope before so I wasn't sure about it, but it's really easy to get used to. Mine is bubba'd with the stock and scope and bipod. I couldn't help it, these things are so cheap.

Next buy is a Swiss K31. :hsd:

that's what I was thinking of. I don't feel like drilling and tapping out a mount for a standard mount. I am thinking of trying an Aimpoint there instead though just for the hell of it. Since they are so damn cheap, it's easy to goof around with setups. :)

As for the bayonet, yes, both this and the SKS are folders, but the aftermarket stocks aren't designed for them. I just dremel out the groove in the stock so they will fold properly.

I thought that on the M44 the bayonet can come off, but the lug stays attached to the gun.

was checking mine this afternoon, it's part of the front sight that slides onto the barrel. Makes it easy to remove when scoping it out. SKS on the other hand requires grinding off if I want to remove it.

Too bad that no one makes a dragunov stock for the Nagants. I prefer a pistol grip to a standard stock.
