I went 2 - 1 that day and got 3rd place in the no gi advanced 149 lbs division.

First opponent - purple belt who used to train under prof. maguilla
second opponent - blue belt who tapped me before in the gi a long time ago
third opponent - brown belt who won the division, doesn't speak any english

I don't feel like putting it on youtube so just download it if you get the chance and any feedback will be appreciated. Still working on my game but I think it has come along since the last time.

obviously you're awesome and would kick my butt.. so im not gonna skip the praise because im sure you know all the great things about your game.

you seem to love using butterfly guard.. if this is the case, learn to put people in x-guard.. drill that stuff. that was one of the single greatest things to happen to my game. i'm not a great competitor, i get WAY nervous. but almost every match i have won involved me sweeping someone with x-guard. its such a powerful tool for sport grappling, and i think people gloss over it too much.

second thing is.. learn to use the overhook more effectively. type in "jason brudvik" in youtube and watch his matches. i train with this guy from time to time, and he changed my entire game. i almost never fight for the underhook anymore. people GIVE you the overhook, and you can do, so so, SO much with it. if you give jason an overhook, he's going to do something terrible to you.

anyway.. i know from personal exp that you dont necessarily show everything you got in a competition. i feel like i perform only up to 60% of my potential when i compete.. I bet your game is even stronger than it looks on these videos.

he gets freaking JOACHIM HANSEN in this simple crap.. a lot of times you can totally see it coming, but you just cant get your arms out.. he kind of gets on his hip and whizzers the arm.. this forces you to post with your free hand, and that then totally opens you up to be triangled. i know im going off on a tangent here.. but i just see this as something that would really fit into your game. here's the vid:
