32-bit Processor Faster Than 64-bit?
Normaly a 64bit CPU is still faster in 32bit programs, so no
What kind of 64-bit are you talking about? There are like 3 different architectures/sockets...i think 754/939/940. It is possible to get a highend 32-bit processor to outperform a low-end 754 setup...but it takes more than stock speeds and the realworld difference is probably next to nothing. A lowend 939 setup should still beat a pretty good 32-bit computer, even if it is overclocked. (an average overclock..nothin like phase change cooled 3.1GHz mobile or something lol)
I think your best bet would be 64-bit, as even a low end/budget 754 setup once overclocked should start pulling ahead ov an already maxed out 32-bit system.
LGA-775 64-bit > *.x86
lol the price yes...
that's an entire different battle though. I think the FX-55's give them a run for there money since they are cheaper, and i dunno about the FX-57 when it comes out...too early to really make a rock solid statement IMO.
