Just picked up a Sony H5 for my birthday and am trying to learn how to play with the settings. Please don't give me shit because it's not a DSLR.. Anyways, any tips/advice would help.
Took a pic of my dog:

dont look derrict, its on the grass.

animal shots are best when taken at their level, so get on the ground.

Also... is it dead? it doesnt seem to be doing anything.

  3. pic is boring, maybe if the dog was eating some shit or a razorblade this pic might be worth looking

Poor lighting of the dog's face, not really much you can do for this shot but just something to keep in mind in the future.

If you have photoshop, that picture would look ten times better with a little more saturation.

And as mentioned, get as close as you can to the ground when shooting pics like that on grass, they can come out pretty cool. I'll upload one I took in a minute just to give you an idea.

This is completely unedited and I know the lighting sucks but here's an example to go off of, maybe with a little less grassblades though.

It's a funny picture, not ripping on your skills or anything.

nice shots. Is that a jack russell terrier too?

  11. #1 is cute minus the chopped off tail, #2 has too much diffused glow and too much contrast added making your white get all blown out

#1 could have been better if the dog was looking at the camera. Just my O.
