The writeup says they are testing 3 gun myths, didnt have anymore details. Might be worth it to check it out. I am recording the one later night.

Hopefully one will be that Glocks can go through metal detectors. I'm tired of hearing that.

Didn't they try to split a rifle barrel by plugging it that one time?

    The myths they're doing are:

*Shooting a bullet through the scope of another sniper
*Bullets coming out of a gun backwards :roflwtf:
    *Some stupid civil war myth

Two of those are not only plausible, they've been proven to have worked/been done. :ugh:

GYSGT Carlos Hathcock III did the first, and a lot of British .303 ammo was loaded backwards in the days before quality penetrating ammo. They're called dum dum rounds.

    What's the civil war myth?

they didnt shoot bullets out backwards.... they were trying to shoot a 9 mm bullet into the cylinder of a 38 special.

what I don't follow is they said that the 9mm bullet is larger than the cylinder of the .38. I mean I don't know revolvers but that just doesnt sound right to me what with 9mm being .355 and .38 special being .357. Someone correct me if I'm retarded. :o

I'm recording it @ 1am. I don't understand how that is busted. Shooting it through a scope is the same thing as shooting a bottle laying on it's side. As long as the scope is sighted correctly you can hit anything. I guess I'll have to see if there were certain things they were trying to accomplish when I watch it.

apparently the convex of the objective lense was causing the bullet to deflect upward and not going straight through :dunno: they only did 4 scopes though :greddy:

What type of cartridge were they using? I only saw them shooting, didn't hear any explanation. It also didn't seem like they used the rifle the old guy at the gun store was telling them about.

looked to be a .308 "sniper" rifle that the arms guy they always use supplied. I didn't really pay attention honestly :o

you know the sniper scene from Saving Private Ryan? They tried to re-create that (sans the snipers eye directly against the scope like in the movie :hsugh: ) but couldn't get the bullet travel straight through the tube, even at about 5ft, because the convex of the glass kept causing it to go skyward.

Sounds like they werent doing something right. I always thought it was totally possible.

Did they use multiple styles and manufactures of scope?
