the application im using is mainly using php & mysql.

im at the point where i need to start writing user accounts with associated information. should i continue using mysql or would ldap be better suited for this purpose? i would also like to setup email with the same user accounts as well

LDAP, but only if you can get it to play nice with your MySQL database. I've never tried that before. You might have to use MS SQL Server instead.

Quite frankly I'd run it outside of SQL - there's easier ways to make accounts through the command line (which you could generate with SQL data).
