It seems that my wrists are killing me when I use a barbell. Is it because I hold it in the upright position for a long time in between reps? Or am I doing it wrong?

Yes, I am sorry for not being clear enough. I don't use any straps or gloves, but my wrists feel like they are about to fall off. I exercise my biceps twice a week.

Actually no, I use the curved barbell too, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I'm assuming by curved you speak of the ez-curl bar?

I think the ez curl bar is better on my wrists.

some people react differently to barbells(staight/curved) or dumbbells. I for one cannot use the E-Z Curl bar for curls, hurts my wrist, straight barbell ftw. also dumbbells have NEVER given me any type of discomfort.

if it hurts, and you are using correct form, stop and find another way.

make sure you are using the proper sleeved and bearing'ed ez bar, not the fixie ones

the fixed ones tear your hand, could also put strain on wrist as the inertia moves the bar in the hand
