    No idea, but you may have Wake On Lan configured, or your mouse is doing it.

    RTC = real time clock?

    Maybe the button battery on the mobo is dying and your BIOS clock is skipping around.

    Any USB devices you have plugged in?

    Also, actually go into the driver for the NIC and turn off any wake on lan options.

    just the wireless keyboard/mouse and external hdd, but if that wakes the computer up, event viewer wouldve shown wake source: usb something....i've already tested it out

    gonna uninstall the windows mobile synchronization (activesync for vista) when i get home, did some googling last night and that came up as a possibility.....just remembered that i installed that recently too, if that doesnt work, im reinstalling windows...if that doesnt work....gonna buy a new cmos battery, if that doesnt work, im gonna shoot myself
