Does it still work? I was told of all the Cingular phones, this is the smallest problem with all the phones. Guy told me that if you just open it and close it, it should work again.

yeah, it still works, it just went to white in the middle of a call, and I just let it sit for a minute and it came back to normal

If your still under warranty, I'd go for an exchange for a new one, or a new phone. But all I heard from 551's is all positive, except for very minor things.

just hang onto it. if it has only done it once, its better than trading it for another 551 that might do it more. in the end, they will all do it

my first one did it multiple times daily. closing, then re-opening it would always make it go away, but i got it swapped out through warranty exchange for one with newer software on it and it hasn't happened a single time on the new one, which i've had for around a month.

Ive heard the battery life is worse on the new software models :dunno:

and does using the Bluetooth affect the battery life much, cause when I use my headset alot I can kill a full battery easily in a day :hs:

VERY true. Half the ones I replace come back with battery issues. Whatever moto did to fix the whitescreen has destroyed battery life.

If it whitescreens, just flip it close and open again. its just annoying, but at least you have battery life

that's what i did until i started interviewing for jobs. i was missing calls because every so often, the phone would white screen when i opened it to answer a call. that's when i decided it was time to get it taken care of.
