    Heaven?

Do want :eek3: Correct Grade SA $5,000

    Hmm what's in the bag?

    Could it be?

    Why yes it is

WRA M1 Garand Field Grade that scored a 2 and 2 on the erosion gauges, making it techinically a Service Grade. The wood was washed so that's why it was sold as such. Some 0000 steel wool and BLO should clean it up nicely

For some reason I always picture guns being much larger in person than they really are. Seeing those garands lined up with a guy nearby for size reference is like :eek3: makes them look tiny. I saw an M44 in person for the first time a few weeks ago and I was surprised how small they are in person, they almost look like toys.

That is not a bad price to pay at all. Where the hell is that? I'm looking for a good road trip.

I went to the Anniston division where they receive/sort/part out the guns.

I think we went through like 3000 garands that weekend, there were still 30k more at the time to be processed. The boxes reached to the 20+ ft ceiling.

It's a damn good price for a Garand in general, especially a Winchester. No shit import marks etc.

Mines a mixmaster of mostly SA parts, correct grade WRA's will fetch 3-5K on the market.

I have family in Huntsville, AL, and one of these times I drive out there I will be checking out the CMP. Hopefully I'll have the money to come back with something cool.

    Hats off to you, Bro.

I have wanted an M1 for a long time now, but have seen a halfway decent price. This fits.

Hopefully I will be able to make it down there sometime soon. :x:

do you need to qualify for all that bullshit they ask for through mail order if you go to the store in person?

Yes, the notary can be done there as well as signing up for the Garand Collectors Association.

You'll still need proof of marksmanship and proof of citizenship in order to qualify.

yeah. CMP requires you to be a US Citizen in order to buy from them.

A US Birth Certificate, Passport, or DD-214 (if you were an officer in the .mil--which also satisfies marksmanship activity) will do the job.

enlisted works too, just that an officer's 214 also proves citizenship.
Any .mil ID or DD214 will prove proof of marksmanship activity, which takes care of at least 1 requirement on its own.
