    Pictures!!!

    Early on in its life:

Me finishing waxing in the driveway, thats my girlfriends 1.8T GTI, i think I have her convinced to chip it! A chip alone on those is good for 40 hp!

    It was a spring clean

    -vaccum interior
-Clean interior surface swith soapy water
    -clean upholstry
    -armor all
-clean cevices with a tooth brush
    -clean floormats
    -clean glass inside

    -clean rims
-polishing compund to remove some winter damage, and cone scars from last years auto-x season
    -rain-x winshield
    -wax car
    -polish exhaust

5.5 hours later i was done

Crappy pics, most came out blurry :crook: My camera is toast and these were with my girlfriends and the batteries were low.

I am an auto-x whore, I was Street mod class points winner for Cumberland Motor Club and placed 3rd over all in PAX.

    future mods:
    -Lowering springs (tanabe gf210's?)
    -tint
    -rallyarmor mudflaps

    distant future possible mods??
-20g, injectors, fuel pump, SMC kit and stock TMIC.

but I am now wondering if stock turbo + SMC kit is better HP/$ than a 20g. Upgrade turbo/injectors for 40 more HP? Is that 40 hp worth like $2,000?

    Feedback welcome!

I read on NASIOC that the 20G has some bad compressor surging at low RPMs.

The GTI is pretty much how it came from the dealer, it was an '02 bought in 05 with 16k miles. Neither of us liked the wing at first, but now its grown on us. 2 weeks ago I put some bilstein sports in to compliment the neuspeed springs that were already there and the handling is siiiiick on it now.

Also, I have herd no such thing of surge issues with a 20g. No clue where you got that one from.

    nice front end

if you plan to keep it an auto-x machine, keep the stock turbo. 20G isnt exactly a huge turbo, but spool difference will be noticeable. certainly would help out greatly with your top-end though..... it's an awesome turbo on the highway

you'll get more out of puttin money into the suspension....

are the stock shocks real good on the STi that you'd consider keeping them along with lowering springs? for the money you'd put on the turbo setup, you could have a sick suspension system that would make you faster around the cones than a bigger turbo would..

although the suspension wont do anything for your 1/4 mile.....and will likely hurt your 60' times...

anyway these are the FUN decisions....

hows the understeer on the car?

Stock there is little understeer, with easily induced throttle lift oversteer. I have added a rear sway , eliminating oversteer.

Suspension will actually help with 60' times by increasing traction.

My suspension currently consists on f/r strut bars, rear sway bar and endlinks, and I ordered Tanabe GF210 springs last night. Combine that with the 245 azenis im getting at the end ofthe month and it will be an autox ANIMAL.

Also, the DCCD set to full rear makes it very tail happy, if you like that sorta thing :)

well stiffer springs will reduce the weight transfer to the rear end during launches, but you still want more of the weight on the back of the car. strictly for drag racing purposes...

also depends on power levels and whether youre more partial to tire-smoking than to driveline implosions.... so it has its up and downs

but it will def be more fun to drive..... is teh car gonna be ok in transitions when it is running on the stock shocks with those springs ?

Oil based plastics need oil to keep them in good shape, as well as leathers. Otherwise they will dry out and fade. :) Thanks for the update though.

And the stock sti spring rates are a little off for the stock shocks. These springs will be a better match for the stock shocks. Very mild drop too, 1.0 front, .5 rear. It will be an animal! :x:
