2 days early (not being charged for the extra days :big grin:) guy has an online store and is about 10 hrs from where i live.

i have never been so intimidated in my life by a lens :o at least i have a few days to get some more arm strength and practice shots
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    *EDIT*

finally got around to processing some pics from yesterday with the lens.

as usual, C&C is greatly appreciated, attitude and negativity gets ignored.

Please tell me they ship the yellow case in a box or something. But that's pretty cool. When I rented mine a couple years ago from lensrentals.com, they shipped it in a fully contained styrofoam box that went inside a cardboard box. It was very secure, but it looked nothing like you have.

70-200 2.8 VR is the very first Nikon lens I ever took a picture with. :o

after attempting to shoot with the rental lens, i still have lots of work to get used to it. its amazing at how fast it focuses on the target, its weight is an issue if you plan on carrying it all day and shooting. the optional tripod mount is a great feature.

for my first real glass rental i must say i am overwhelmed. im unbelievably happy that I have these extra days to get familiar with the lens for when the weekend comes and im shooting racing cars  ill have some pics up with the lens shortly.

nope, its a yellow pelican case. nothing is breaking through that thing if youve ever used a pelican case before. inside its full of foam with inserts/pull outs to make sure the lens has no room for movement. not only that, but the company he runs it only 10 hrs away from me, so ground shipping isnt rough on the package.

After having my 80-200 AF-S for a day, I can already see I'm going to want the 70-200 VR for the weight savings alone.
