This was me, on the left (that's a pen in my hat, not bluetooth shit) at my heaviest while I was at college. This is actually the picture that made me realise I need to get my shit together
    [IMG]

This is me about 2 weeks ago
    [IMG]

    And without my shirt
    [IMG]

I lost all my weight by eating correctly (6 small meals, high protein diet, high fiber etc) and lifting weights.

My target is to maintain this weight until after I take part in a one day, 100km (~65 mile) hike in August and then increasing my intake to increase my muscle mass.

    It was not easy.

good job man, now you just need to hit up the weights a lot more and get on a solid diet to slowly add weight on to turn to muscle, or bulk a little

You're going to get hated on for being 120lbs, but good job not being fat any more.

Hit the weights and put some mass on.

    I'm 165lb and 6'3

We've all got goals, carrying 55lb of fat or muscle on a long ass hike is not one of mine.

great job on the weight loss. you're going to look 10000x better once you add some muscle to your frame.

There was a girl at the gym the other day who was insanely hot strutting around in a sports bra and hot pants, looked like a "fitness model" and had visable abs etc.

I guess she thought everyone was staring at her because she was hot, but I don't think anyone bothered to tell her they were staring because she was wearing her pants inside out and you could see the tags

I tell people I started at 220lb, but it must have been more than that, I'm not too sure how much to be honest. Took about 18 months.

I'd be staring due to the hotness.

Also, 10 pounds of fat/muscle isn't going to hurt you on your hike. There's no time like the present!

honestly I don't think it would make a huge difference. If you start lifting now and eat not to get huge but just a slow, clean bulk you can get a few lbs of LBM and it's not gonna affect your hike negatively. I'm a tad taller than you and at 165 a few years ago I had way less stamina than I do now at 210, despite the fact that my bodyfat is higher in addition to the extra muscle.

Doesn't matter what you do you can wait until august to hit the weights if you want, either way you'll do fine. The point is you aren't gonna get huge in 2 months and even if you gained some muscle it wouldn't slow you down.

    Good job.

But keep lifting. Your overall level of fitness, strength, and stamina will only help you on a hike, not hurt you.

To hike that long you're also going to need to lug a bunch of food, water, maybe shoes, etc. You don't want to wear yourself out.
