So all you broly guys are probably going to laugh me out of the subforum...don't care though..:hsugh:

I'm primarily a cyclist/triathlete ...but I got a little tired of looking like an emaciated motherfucker...so I decided to start hitting the gym in the offseason to put on a little muscle mass, and see if I could also improve my endurance/sprinting in the process....

I decided my routine would be more endurance based...high # of reps at lower weights...

When I started in the first week of september I weighed 135lbs (i'm 6'2" :eek3:)
always had a pretty crazy metabolism though...

    skinny as hell...

fast forward one month...here's my progress pics from today...currently 144.5 lbs...so I've gained almost 10 lbs...

I definitely feel like I can notice a difference..going to keep at it until I hit 160..:hsd:

keep it up but 10lbs a month is a lot (can't gain that much muscle that fast, so you're gaining something else along with some muscle) and 1 month isn't very long

actually more like a month and a half now...

my BF% has always been low though...and I'm not cutting out any of my aerobic stuff..(cycling, running, spinning classes)...

    9.5 lbs gained/6weeks = 1.58 lbs/ week

10 lbs in one month is insane. I'd consider myself lucky to gain that much lean mass in a year. Even for n00b gains I think 2-4 lbs would be more common.

    Edit: Man, I started at 6'1 and 145lbs and I thought I was a scrawny fucker. :p

yeah...biking about 150 miles a week + Running + spinning class takes care of that...

I'm not worried about lower body...

    do some squats occasionally too...

my legs are pretty well defined...I don't want to gain a ton of mass..since that's counterintuitive to being fast in cycling/tri..

I'm happy with their size..and any resistance training I'll do will follow the same lines as my other workouts...endurance...

I know. Just saying, don't get down on yourself when you stop gaining 1.5lb/week, enjoy it while it lasts.

Next progress pics: 6 months or longer. 1.5 years for maximum effect.

I'll trade you your bodyfat for the total muscle in one of my thighs

I have tree-trunk quads compared to my upper body....really wasn't proportional before...(not saying they're huge...but they're definitely the thing I have to work the least on...)

    I'd snap some pics...but my leg's currently fucked up/ swollen from a crash...and I'm at class... :o

    For a 145lbs 6'2" guy, I'm sure they're huge.

didn't say they were...but I'm not going for huge...I'm going for proportional..I don't want to be huge and broly...

just a little more mass and work with what I have...

If I gain a ton of weight, that slows me down on the bike (especially in a hilly area like WV)...I dont want that...It's all about power:weight ratio...I want to put out the most power with what I have
