    what did you write it in? Guessing OpenGL if you are doing this as a school project.

    It looks pretty, but it lags when I fire off multiple shots. That's just on my old workstation at work, though; on a newer machine, it might be fine.

    I use Ogre for my particle stuff. They have a pretty nice built-in particle engine. It does have it's limitations though.

    You know what I need, a 3D model builder and animator; I have an RTS game design I'd like to make, and I can build the game engine well enough, but the graphics bit escapes me.

    I've played with Blender a little bit for some model animations. Pretty decent program, and it's opensource i believe

    silky smooth on my system, even with several clicks when maximized.

    tried it now that i'm home, and it's smooth. Very nice.
