My only problem with asking girls out

I'm not scared of rejection per se, but I am always worried about asking out a girl who has a boyfriend. I know it's nothing I can control, but it seems so awkward. What can you reply with? "Oh, whoops!"

It's made worse if it's someone you see a lot, but don't know all that well. Specifically girls you have class with.

Should I not even worry about it and just go for it?

    Her: I have a boyfriend.
You: Cool, whens the wedding day?
    Her: Oh, we're not engaged.
You: Well in that case it cant be that serious.

Continue with conversation as though she never brought it up.

If she says "sorry I have a boyfriend" you just say "that's a shame, he's a lucky man." It would flatter any girl, no matter how committed she is and she will at least remember you if she dumps his ass.

The problem nowadays is that half the time the women are lying to get rid of you. Therefore, blow through the excuse to see what's really going on.

"That's the worst excuse I've heard all night. Can't you come up with something better? "

"Um, I wasn't asking for his number, but yours."

The point is to make a joke of it, have a little fun, and in the end find out if she's being serious. I've found that when a woman says that, it's because I came on too strong too fast. It's more a reflection of your approach needing some fine-tuning.

Now, if she truly DOES have a boyfriend, you can back off.

Do NOT listen to this. If I had a boyfriend and a guy tried to get me and I told him sorry, no, I have a boyfriend. I would be appalled if he tried to accuse me of lying. In fact I would think you he was a fucking jackass loser.

IF the girl is actually single and lies then who the fuck cares, move on, you are petty as shit if you try to call her out on it, she just doesn't like you.

Did you even read my post? :ugh:

So ... don't joke around, don't try to lighten things up, but be ultra serious and a supplicating stiff? Yeah. Got it. Check. I'll be sure and do that from now on. :mamoru:

i dont see whats embarassing about her informing you that she is not available

if this is a concern you could open with "Are you single?"

Hah, I'm never serious. My point is there is no reason to say it like a joke because even if the girl is lying she's not going to think its funny. It's as if you're solely saying it in a cheeky way so YOU feel better if she rejects you. Just take the response like a man.

    "Hey, what's your number anyways?"

"Uhh... actually I have a boyfriend..."

"Oh, well I have two :big grin: You have some catching up to do (big grin)"

    "(face blushes)"

If she truley loves her boyfriend she will laugh and say nice try or something.

If she actually goes out with you... I don't know what to say about that. I don't really approve of it, since I was cheated on. But I do realise that it is always the woman's fault and responsibility.

Your replies are exactly what I was looking for, thanks guys (and gals)!
As for PicoDiablos advice, I would hope that any girl would have enough sense of humor to appreciate those comments.

Yeah, trying to get with a girl that has a BF is fucked up and more then likely you are going to piss her off.

That's not what I'm trying to do at all. I'm just trying to tone down the awkwardness with something more lighthearted, like a joke.

Personally, if I find out a woman does have a boyfriend, I just invite the two of them over to a house party some time. It sure doesn't make me say "Sorry" or walk away or otherwise "give up." Just because someone is involved doesn't mean they want everyone to ignore them.

The old line is "Married, not buried" meaning just because someone is married doesn't mean you have to ignore them completely.

"Hey, I just had to walk over here to find out if you are single."
    "Oh, no I'm not."
"Oh, well it was worth the walk anyway." Smile, walk away.

Harmless, charming. You find out what you need to know, you come off classy, and she feels great as well.

It's smart because it's not only courteous and doesn't make you seem like a jackass, but is also flattering.

Why does it matter if she's lying or not? She doesn't want you so leave her alone.
