Everything shot with my 50mm 1.4, which I love and is my go to lens.

I had to do the "vagina" sign and some typical cliche stuff, but I think I got some of my style in there as well, but lemme know what you think.

These ones don't really fit in the series but the Zack Arias in me wanted to try my new softbox out on location...tell me what you think other than they don't fit in the series and don't belong...well actually, do tell me that as well if it applies.

#11 definitely can be used in 'Pregnant & Scared' advertisement , it might be her blank stare.

Nice pics. The pics with the softbox don't "fit" only because you used too much light. Tone down the light a bit and bring up the ambient so it looks more natural and you'll be happy with the results.

#1 makes me think back alley abortion.
Something about street photography + maternity doesn't really melt together.
I'm missing the "new family" feeling with these. just my 0.02

Jcolman, I respect and love your work of course and I appreciate the comments and suggestions with the softbox. I think I assume that using a flash needs to be dramatic, which is obviously doesn't.

Haha...that's awesome. Ya, no studio access plus I didn't want the typical shoot that everyone has, not that I don't have typical shots. Anyhow, appreciate the input.

Using a flash can make for some dramatic photos but you have to have the right elements in play to make that happen. Those elements can be a dark sky, larger framing, ie. more surroundings, dramatic angles etc.

I just hate shooting on brick, that is all
I like #7 the most, but that one is probably the most cliche!

    Shankx!

Thanks! In my head I wanted and even asked the dad if he would hold up his shirt and show is belly, so that the whole family had their bellies showing...that didn't work, but settled for this (the son gave me about .3 seconds to get a shot and this was the better of the two quick shots I was able to snap off).

Ya, brick is overshot without a doubt and the #7 is soooo cliche, but I do like the outcome.

Thanks...there's a bit of everything in there and my clients absolutely love them, which is what matters right? I'm really happy with the pictures as well and this job is looking to land me newborn pictures (for this mom) as well as two other gigs from referrals.

Definitely, I need to watch OneLight again and then also realize that a mother to be isn't a rock and roll band. In all seriousness, I appreciate the input and advice/time.

I think the reason I'm not feeling these is that she's "stiff" in every picture. She's either standing up straight, holding her stomach, or posing as if she's never been in front of a camera. I don't think its your fault and you did the best you could... but I just guess it depends on the person you're shooting. :dunno:
