    ..2001 VW Polo GTi.

Got a 1.6 16v straight-4 pushing out 125bhp, which whilst relatively insignificant compared to most stuff on here, it has the benefit of weighing less than 1100kg.
Runs 0-60 in about 8.5 seconds, 130mph max and just generally a whole lot of fun to drive :big grin:

Are Polos a Euro verison of our U.S. Golf/GTI models or is it entirely a different car?

BTW, congrats on the new car!

The Polo is a size down from the Golf.

Which pretty much explains why it isn't offered in the USA I'd guess.

    Splat_man:

Yeah the 2-piece BBS wheels came as standard on the GTi. Unfortunately they suffer badly from corrosion so I'm going to replace them with the OZ racing alloys off my old car.

And yeah, I saw a tornado red Mk5 Golf GTi when I was out yesterday. Looks cool.

    waspride:

On that shape Polo thats the most powerful version. VW do offer a 1.9TDi GT with 130bhp on the new shape Polo though.

Yeah, the Polo GTi is probably closer in size and spirit to the Mk1 and Mk2 Golf GTi.

Maybe not as pure in terms of handling feel, but I'd rather forgo that for knowing its up to modern safety standards.

Yeah could do with dropping it a bit.

Not keen though as the rides already fairly rough, and seen as I use the car on rough back roads I want to keep it kind of compliant.
